Tom co-founded Chromatic and helps maintain Storybook, connecting open-source interface development with automated testing and team review. Storybook is used by thousands of companies, and Chromatic customers include the BBC and Mozilla. This work helps developers catch visual and functional bugs with less manual checking, while Discover Meteor adds a contribution to developer education.

Tom Coleman is co-founder and chief technology officer of Chromatic and a core maintainer of Storybook, based in Melbourne. Co-founded in 2017, Chromatic automates interface testing and review workflows for software teams. Alongside Chromatic, Storybook provides an open-source environment for building and testing components in isolation, embedding UI testing directly into everyday development.

Earlier projects include work on the Meteor framework and Apollo GraphQL. Developer education has formed a key part of that output, with Tom authoring Discover Meteor, a widely read guide to building applications with the framework.

Today, Chromatic checks interfaces across browsers for visual and functional regressions, supporting team collaboration for clients including the BBC, Mozilla, Adobe and Square. Through ongoing maintenance of Storybook and Chromatic, Tom helps thousands of organisations catch interface defects early and reduce manual testing.
