Russell founded BeeWare to help Python developers build and distribute applications across platforms, including mobile devices. Russell Keith-Magee is the founder of BeeWare and a Python core developer based in Perth, Australia. BeeWare provides a collection of tools for building and distributing Python applications across platforms. The project connects Python code directly with native user interfaces and packaging mechanisms, tackling the practical challenge of turning code into software that installs and runs smoothly on user devices, including mobile platforms.

Russell joined the Django core team in 2006 and served as President of the Django Software Foundation for five years, followed by joining the CPython core team in May 2024.
