Ron Holshausen

Ron helped create Pact and extend it to Java-based projects, and leads maintenance of pact-jvm and the shared Rust implementation. Teams building independently deployed services use this work to check that systems agree on how to communicate. Contributions to the Pact specifications and ongoing open-source maintenance support a consistent approach to compatibility testing across programming languages.

Ron Holshausen is a co-founder of PactFlow and a Pact core maintainer at SmartBear, based in Melbourne, Australia. In 2013, as part of a development team at realestate.com.au that included DiUS consultants, Ron helped create the first version of Pact to test how small, separately built Ruby services worked together.

Ron also helped establish pact-jvm, bringing Pact to Java and other languages running on the Java Virtual Machine. Ongoing commitments include leading maintenance for pact-jvm and the shared Pact Rust reference implementation, alongside authoring the Pact V3 and V4 specifications that define contract representations to help teams verify compatibility between independently deployed services.
