Why Matt Fellows is in the Luvo 100

Matt maintains Pact tools for JavaScript and Go and helped found PactFlow, giving engineering teams practical ways to check compatibility between services. Open-source maintenance supports teams using different languages, while PactFlow provides a shared platform for testing and release decisions. Together, these contributions make evidence about whether services can work together more usable during software delivery.

About

Matt Fellows is a Pact maintainer and PactFlow co-founder at SmartBear, based in Melbourne, Australia. Matt focuses on contract testing, ensuring microservices agree on how to communicate so updates do not break downstream connections. As a core maintainer of Pact's JavaScript, Node and Go implementations, Matt supports engineers collaborating across disparate programming languages.

PactFlow emerged from work by DiUS engineers involved in Pact's early development and ongoing maintenance, founded by Matt alongside Beth Skurrie and Ron Holshausen. The platform enables engineering teams to coordinate compatibility checks for distributed systems, serving organisations such as ITV, ASOS and Sainsbury's. Following PactFlow's acquisition by SmartBear, Matt continues integrating contract testing into automated deployment pipelines, giving teams reliable verification before releasing software to production.
