Why Jake Ginnivan is in the Luvo 100

Jake co-founded TestStack, created ApiApprover and became a long-standing core contributor to Shouldly, supporting developers working with .NET testing tools. Contributions to GitVersion also addressed consistency and troubleshooting in software releases. This combination of maintained tools, technical writing, speaking and mentoring helps engineering teams check software behaviour and understand the systems used to build and release software.

About

Jake Ginnivan is a principal software engineer at Atlassian and a maintainer of Shouldly and TestStack, based in Perth, Australia. Jake co-founded TestStack, the organisation behind TestStack.White, BDDfy and ConventionTests, and created ApiApprover to support approval testing of public APIs. Core maintenance of Shouldly, an assertion library for .NET, further underpins developer testing workflows and everyday software quality.

Beyond testing tools, Jake contributed to GitVersion, which calculates software version numbers from Git repository history. Writing covering the version 3 release documented a transition to configuration-driven behaviour, accompanied by bug fixes, improved documentation and clearer error reporting to help teams resolve versioning inconsistencies. International speaking, mentoring and technical writing expand these contributions across the wider engineering community, including a YOW! presentation on building web applications with Remix.
