Gian Wild

Gian has contributed to shared web accessibility standards, mobile testing guidance and practical reporting tools through AccessibilityOz. OzART supports testers, developers, content creators and managers by organising defects, flagging checks that need human judgement and tracking fixes. Community organising and conference speaking also help make accessibility knowledge available to practitioners, supporting more usable digital services for people with disabilities.

Gian Wild is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of AccessibilityOz, established in 2011. Working in accessibility since 1998, Gian previously ran consultancy PurpleTop from 2000 to 2005 and contributed to the development of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.

At AccessibilityOz, Gian oversees the development of OzART, an accessibility reporting tool designed for testers, developers, content creators and managers. OzART groups defects into categories such as images and forms, identifies items requiring manual inspection, and tracks remediation progress. The platform provides teams with a structured way to organise accessibility checks alongside guidance explaining the impact of defects and how to resolve them.

Beyond software development, Gian co-chairs the ICT Accessibility Testing Symposium’s mobile site and native app testing sub-committees, which maintain a shared mobile accessibility testing methodology. Community leadership and research also include founding the Melbourne Web Accessibility Group in 2010 and speaking at international forums, including the United Nations Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2015.
