Testing Practice & Leadership

Why David Greenlees is in the Luvo 100

David has created opportunities for testers to learn together through OZWST, Let’s Test Oz and Testing Trapeze. The book, articles and podcast discussion offer testers practical ways to think about adapting techniques and asking better questions. This combination of community leadership and shared guidance helps practitioners focus testing on the information needed to judge software quality and readiness for release.

About

David Greenlees is quality and testing practice lead at NCS Group Australia and the founder of the Australian Workshop on Software Testing (OZWST), based in Adelaide. Career experience spans managing testing teams within one of Australia’s largest government departments alongside consulting across multiple organisations. This hands-on background shapes an approach focused on adapting methods to context and identifying precisely what information decision-makers require before testing begins.

In 2012, David established OZWST as a peer conference where software testers present detailed experience reports for collective critique. Additional community work includes co-founding Let’s Test Oz and co-editing Testing Trapeze magazine, giving practitioners collaborative forums to examine and refine testing practice.

David is also the author of Software Testing as a Martial Art – There is no One Style, which draws on martial arts concepts to champion flexibility, deliberate practice and experiential learning. Contributions to the Martial Tester blog, published articles and an appearance on the TestGuild podcast further promote testing techniques that provide actionable insights and support well-informed release decisions.
