Why Chris Carter is in the Luvo 100
Chris helped build Planit’s testing consultancy and training business, serving organisations including Sensis, MLC, CBA and Vodafone. As founding chairman of ANZTB and later ISTQB President, Chris also supported regional and international testing certification. These contributions brought specialist testing services to businesses and supported recognised learning paths for testing professionals.
About
Chris Carter is the founder of Planit Testing, founding chairman of ANZTB, and now runs a company as director. Based in Sydney, Chris led Imago QA’s Australian launch in 1997, before taking ownership of the business in April 1999 and renaming it Planit Software Testing. The company combined testing consultancy with training, launching the ISEB Foundation certification in 2000, which later became ISTQB Foundation.
In 2005, Chris worked with other testing professionals to establish the Australian and New Zealand Testing Board (ANZTB), becoming the organisation's founding chairman. This community leadership supported the professionalisation of testing across the region. International work included election to four consecutive executive committees of ISTQB from 2007, alongside service as President from 2013 to 2015. Together, the consultancy, training and certification work helped businesses access testing expertise and gave testing professionals clear routes to develop and recognise practical knowledge.
