Camy Bhandari

Camy founded NZTestingConf and leads conference organising at NZ Tech Rally, creating a national gathering for New Zealand’s testing community and a wider space for engineering teams to learn together. The 2022 keynote connected automated testing with quality measures, maintainable software and engineering culture. Through conferences, meetups and workshops, this work gives testers, developers and technology leaders opportunities to exchange practical knowledge about building better products.

Camy Bhandari is Senior Digital Specialist — Testing at Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) and co-founder and director of NZ Tech Rally in Wellington. Working in technology since 2010, Camy has built expertise in quality assurance and automated software testing across banks, consultancies, a startup and a government agency, bringing practitioners together to share knowledge about building better software.

In a 2022 conference keynote, 'Test Engineering Manifesto', Camy explored how teams can build quality into products through testing choices, practical quality measures and a healthy engineering culture. The presentation addressed selecting testing tools, deciding when automated checks should run, and reducing technical debt. Camy also hosts the Tech Engineering Lounge podcast.

NZ Tech Rally now runs monthly in-person meetups, workshops and an annual conference for engineers, testers, product practitioners and technology leaders. As a first-generation migrant from India, a woman of colour and a neurodiverse person, Camy actively shapes an inclusive and accessible environment where entire engineering teams can learn together about the practices behind software quality.
