Why Beth Skurrie is in the Luvo 100

Beth created Pact Broker and helped develop Pact’s support for testing requests under different service conditions. Teams building and consuming services use this work to share compatibility evidence and assess releases before deployment. Alongside continued Ruby maintenance, these contributions make contract testing a practical, shared part of software quality across independently deployed applications.

About

Beth Skurrie is a Consultant at DiUS, Co-founder of PactFlow, and a core maintainer of Pact and the Pact Broker, based in Melbourne. Contract testing ensures that software services agree on the requests and responses exchanged between them. After joining a team at realestate.com.au, Beth became involved with Pact during early development, introducing provider states to let teams test the same request under different conditions in the service receiving it.

Maintaining Pact’s Ruby implementation alongside creating Pact Broker enabled teams to share test results and verify whether particular service versions can work together before deployment. This gives engineers working on independently released services a shared basis for release decisions, reducing reliance on fragile environments that test everything together. Through sustained open-source maintenance and advocacy, Beth has helped establish a collaborative approach to testing the boundaries between applications.
