Accessibility & Inclusive Quality

Why Andrew Arch is in the Luvo 100

Andrew has helped organisations assess and improve web accessibility through consultancy, reviews and national training workshops. At W3C, contributions to the ageing project supported work addressing age-related accessibility needs and disability. This combination of practical education and standards work gives developers, website owners and organisations ways to consider access as part of designing and evaluating digital services.

About

Andrew Arch retired as Principal Digital Accessibility Consultant at Intopia in August 2025 and continues as a freelance digital accessibility consultant, focusing on accessibility guidance and information and communications technology standards, including the needs of older users. Consultancy alongside standards development helps organisations design and evaluate digital products so that more people can use them effectively.

Before joining the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), Andrew led a web accessibility team at Vision Australia, delivering consultancy, reviews and training. National workshops helped developers and website owners understand accessibility and learn how to assess and improve websites, serving corporations, universities, banks, community organisations and government departments. Earlier work in Victorian state government involved developing intranet and internet sites and organising information around users’ needs.

At W3C, Andrew joined the Web Accessibility Initiative’s ageing project in late 2007 as a Web Accessibility and Ageing Specialist. Responsibilities included facilitating the project task force and editing or contributing to project outputs, alongside active involvement in W3C’s Education and Outreach Working Group. Together, consulting, standards development and teaching help make access for disabled and older users a practical component of software quality.
