Aldeida Aleti

Aldeida connects automated test generation with the growing need to evaluate AI-based systems. Published test-generation code gives testing researchers material to inspect and compare, while collaborations with academia and industry address trustworthy AI in pharmaceutical applications, manufacturing and drug discovery. Teaching, research supervision and leadership of a major software testing conference support the wider quality community.

Aldeida Aleti is a Professor at Monash University, working at the intersection of software engineering and artificial intelligence. Core research spans automated testing, software optimisation, and techniques for testing and evaluating AI-based systems. Academic milestones include a 2012 Dean’s Commendation for Best PhD Thesis at Swinburne University, alongside extensive teaching across software engineering, architecture and design, and introductory computer science.

Alongside students, research fellows, and industry partners, Aldeida develops methods to assess whether AI systems can be trusted, spanning pharmaceutical applications, additive manufacturing, drug discovery, and misinformation prevention. In automated testing, contributions include developing a Kalman filter-based genetic algorithm to generate test cases and dynamically adjust search settings, with the source code released openly for evaluation.

Supervision and community leadership form a significant part of the portfolio, earning Aldeida a 2020 faculty award for research supervision within Monash’s Faculty of Information Technology. Service to the wider discipline also includes chairing the programme committee for the 2025 International Conference on Software Testing, Verification and Validation.
